Purpose
● This study was designed to examine the economical ways to recover both copper and gold.
Process design considerations
● The state of the pile is 80% or more of fine particles such as soil.
● Very low permeability coefficient of 10-4 cm/sec or less.
(In the case of 5M heap, it takes about 58 days of residence time for 1 pass)
● The permeability deteriorates more due to the compaction action of the soil.
● Copper must be removed before cyanidation of gold to prevent competitive adsorption.
